Nicole Brady is a Melbourne-based composer and pianist. She writes for orchestras and chamber ensembles, scores for screen and games, and, as founder and creative director of WLDR, builds interactive, immersive work. Across all of it she works from a sonic-led multisensory approach to immersion.

Ricochet and Decoders both simulate the immediate cause-and-effect of interactive design, using live gesture and broad physical phenomenon through attentional engagement. Ricochet was first commissioned as a string quartet via Flinders Quartet’s Ascend Composers Commissioning program, and toured in Voices Between Worlds before evolving into a chamber orchestra/electronics piece for the opening of ICMC 2026 at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg with Friederike Scheunchen conducting Ensemble Resonanz. Decoders, the 2027 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition set piece, similarly frames a piano trio as three ‘inputters’ passing through, against, and around each other in a virtuosic and recursive form pulled from video-game logic.

She frequently performs her own work, from the piano concerto neo prefecture: palm city an ode to metabolist megastructures written for the critically acclaimed We Are OFK (PS5, Switch, Sony), to the live electronics of Ricochet. Her immersive album Lost Palace, a cinematic tale about a band who once played in a long-lost palace, was produced in Dolby Atmos with the RSNO, featuring Miles Mosley, Mark Guiliana, and Lydia Ainsworth. Released on Bright Shiny Things, it carries beat-making traditions alongside classical music, and was featured across editorial playlists on Tidal, Apple Music, and Spotify.

Through WLDR she directed Repast, an XR multisensory interactive installation about memory and ecological fragility, programmed during Illuminate Adelaide and Spier Light Art in Cape Town. More than 20,000 participants have interacted with the work.

She received a 2023 Peabody Award as Concerto Composer for We Are OFK, and her work has also been recognised by IndieCade. She is an alumnus of New York University in Scoring for Film and Multimedia, where she was a Brian May Scholar and awarded the Elmer Bernstein Award. Her doctoral research in multisensory immersion at the University of Melbourne received the Director's Award for Exceptional Doctoral Research.
